The IRS has announced an immediate moratorium on the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) claims through at least December 31, 2023. IR-2023-169 states that, “IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel ordered the immediate moratorium, beginning today (9/14/2023), to run through at least Dec. 31 following growing concerns inside the tax agency, from tax professionals as well as media reports that a substantial share of new claims from the aging program are ineligible and increasingly putting businesses at financial risk by being pressured and scammed by aggressive promoters and marketing.”

Due to the uncertainties surrounding the reinstatement of the ERTC, Boyer & Ritter LLC will no longer process new ERTC claims until at least December 31, 2023, coinciding with the IRS’ implemented moratorium. As the IRS continues to clarify and make decisions on the ERTC program as a whole, we will determine our next steps concerning processing and assisting with new ERTC claims.
