Professional History
John is a principal in the Chambersburg office of Boyer & Ritter where he provides accounting, auditing, tax and management consulting services to a variety of clients and industry groups.
He began his career with a large national public accounting firm, joined Boyer & Ritter in 1978 and was admitted as a Partner in 1991. He retired from the partnership in 2008.
John has served the firm as its Director of Accounting and Auditing, and as a member of the firm’s Executive, Continuing Professional Education and Tax Committees. John’s concentrations include automobile and agricultural equipment dealerships, employee benefit plans, governmental units, not-for-profit organizations and litigation support.
Professional Activities
John is a member of the American (AICPA) and Pennsylvania (PICPA) Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past-member of PICPA’s Peer Review Committee and performs peer reviews of other public accounting firms as required by the AICPA’s Peer Review Program.
He is a past-chairman of the PICPA’s Accounting and Auditing Procedures and Ethics Committees, a past-member of AICPA and PICPA Councils, and the PICPA’s Executive Committee. Currently, he is a member of the PICPA’s Forensic and Litigation Services and Business Valuation Committees.
John serves on the Board of Directors for the Waynesboro Industrial Development Corporation (WIDC). He is also on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Capital Theatre Foundation in Chambersburg.
John is an active member of The Exchange Club of Chambersburg and serves on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Property and Technology Committee and Long-range Planning Committee for The Shook Home and The Quarters at The Shook in Chambersburg.
