The annual list of “Best Accounting Firms” was created by Accounting Today and Best Companies Group to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in the accounting profession, which are credited with benefiting the nation’s economy, its workforce, and businesses.

B&R Honored as One of the 2009 Best Places to Work in PA
CAMP HILL, PA, December 2009 – Boyer & Ritter was recently named as one of the 2009 Best Places to Work in PA. The firm jumped 37 spots to settle at #13 on the list. B&R was the top accounting firm on the list of medium-sized companies.

The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce, and businesses.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. Nearly 45,000 Pennsylvania employees filled out the survey. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
The Best Places to Work in PA list is made up of 100 companies split into two groups: 50 medium-sized companies (25-250 employees) and 50 large-sized companies (251 or more employees). Boyer & Ritter has been named one of the Best Places to Work in PA in the medium-sized company category.

B&R Welcomes Jay A. Goldman, CPA to the Dealership Services Group
CAMP HILL, PA, November 2009 – Boyer & Ritter, CPAs and Consultants recently hired Jay A. Goldman, CPA as a Senior Manager. Jay’s primary responsibilities include servicing the accounting, tax and consulting needs of the firm’s auto dealership clients, specifically those located in Maryland and South Central Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining B&R, Jay was the CFO of a $250 million, 350 employee automotive group, based in Baltimore, MD. He also has 15 years of public accounting experience working with a large regional firm and a national firm where he spent the majority of his time servicing auto dealer clients and managing their auto dealer services divisions.
“Jay has spent his entire professional career servicing clients and developing professional networks in Maryland and Virginia. Therefore, in addition to improving the depth of resources available to our existing clients, Jay will be working to expand the reach of B&R’s Dealership Services Group,” said Robert J. Murphy, Managing Partner. “In times like these, we believe the role of the CPA and business consultant is more important than ever for auto dealerships. That is why we are so excited for Jay to join our team.”
Jay is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). He is a former member of the AutoCPA group, a consortium of 26 CPA firms across the United States and Canada, representing over 1,700 dealers in the retail automotive business. He is also a former speaker and a former member of the Steering Committee for the AICPA National Auto Dealer Conference.

B&R Accounces New Partner - Matthew S. Wildasin, CPA
CAMP HILL, PA, July 2009– Boyer & Ritter Certified Public Accountants and Consultants admitted Matthew S. Wildasin, CPA, to the partnership on July 1, 2009.
“Matt is a valuable resource to our clients and is committed to their success. Furthermore, he is a mentor and leader for our young professionals and advocate for the future of the accounting profession. We are pleased to announce his achievement as Partner with our Firm,” said Robert J. Murphy, CPA, Managing Partner.
A member of the Firm since 1994, he has been promoted through the years to his current position. Matt provides audit, tax, and consulting services to clients of varying size and industry groups. He specializes in serving closely-held businesses, as well the firm's not-for-profit, school district, and governmental clients.
Matt is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He has chaired PICPA’s Emerging CPAs Committee and served as a member of the CPA Image Enhancement Committee, Member Needs Assessment Survey, Community Involvement and Social Responsibility Committee, and PICPA’s South Central Chapter Executive Committee. He is currently the President Elect of PICPA’s South Central Chapter and a member of the PA Association of Not-for-profit Organizations.
Matt is also the chair of the Firm’s Personnel Committee and has oversight for developing programs and training materials for all team members.

B&R Appoints New Managing Partner, Announces Promotions
CAMP HILL, PA, July 2009 - Boyer & Ritter, CPAs and Consultants recently announced the appointment of Robert J. Murphy as Managing Partner. The firm also announced five promotions throughout the firm.
Bob has been serving clients at Boyer & Ritter for 29 years. He provides audit, accounting, tax and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries including automobile dealerships, land development, and other for profit, closely held commercial enterprises. He is a key member of the Firm’s Automotive Group which serves over 160 automobile dealerships throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states. He is Chairman of the Firm’s Executive Committee and is actively involved in the Recruitment and Retention Committee of the Firm which is devoted to hiring, training and developing superior professionals. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1980.

Lisa Myers Receives YWCA's Women of Excellence Award
CAMP HILL, PA, March 2009 - Lisa Myers, Partner at Boyer & Ritter CPAs was honored as one of the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg's Women of Excellence. Award recipients represent the brightest, most dedicated and community-minded women in the for-profit, government, and not-for-profit sectors.

Donna Mullin Interviewed on Behind the Headlines
CAMP HILL, PA, March 2009 - Donna Mullin, JD, CPA, Senior Tax Manager at Boyer & Ritter, was invited to participate in Behind the Headlines - a production of the Susquehanna Valley Center for Public Policy which airs 100 times per week on 60 cable systems throughout PA and on the Voice of Pennsylvania.
Donna was invited to speak and answer questions about the new tax law changes and how to best choose a CPA or tax preparer. She talked about the first time homebuyer credit for 2008 and the new version in 2009, property tax deduction for non-itemizers among others.
